To the ship who thought the sea was someone else

Life is not a tide sweeping you along
to exactly where you want to go –
Ignore your choices
they were good choices
(exactly the choices that brought your river to a standstill)
wonder why you are buoyed near the shore
The sea holds nothing for you
but you left the shore and
the shore does not want you back
why doesn’t the shore want you back
you did nothing absolutely nothing to the shore
(besides leaving it)
can’t the shore just understand your decisions
they are your decisions this is your life
(it just wants you to stop leaving it)
The shore lost another one
a fit of fear and facelessness,
invisible abuse
(does not exist)
It cannot lose another but
your anchor is at the bottom of the ocean,
